Red Dog Optimal Strategy
by Jean Real

Online casino games are not all that hard to beat. The player will always have a very slight disadvantage but this can be reduced to a minimum if you know how to play the game perfectly. As a player, the first thing you must do is find out how to play a chance game such as Red Dog, with a perfect strategy. Once you apply the strategy to the game, your chances of making a profit will be increase. Since the game is ultimately random an optimal strategy cannot guarantee winnings to every player that applies it. It’s a combination of your skill and luck that will determine the outcome of the game.

Red Dog Poker sometimes known as Acey-Deucey, is quite a simple game to play. The game starts by dealing two cards in front of you from a 52-card deck. The cards’ values are the same as in poker (2 being the lowest, Ace being the highest). If the two cards dealt have the same rank (say, two Kings), the game will automatically deal another card in order to see if a three-of-a-kind is completed. Completing a three-of-a-kind will pay the player 11:1. If it is not, then the game is over and the bet results in a push. If the two cards dealt are consecutive (say, an 8 and a 9), the game is over and results again in a push.

So, when the cards are neither the same nor in consecutive order, the player gets a chance to raise the bet. By raising the bet the player is willing to gamble that the next card to appear will have a value between the two initially dealt cards. The bigger the gap between the first two cards, the better chance the player has of winning the bet. The raise is not necessary; the player may gamble only with his or her initial bet by pressing the “call” button.

The Spread. In Red Dog Poker, the spread represent the number of card ranks that can fall between the two initially dealt cards. The wider the gap, or in other words, the higher the spread, the lower the payout; and vice versa, the lower the spread the higher the payout. Payouts are made according to this paytable:

Hand Payout

Spread of 1 (5:1)
Spread of 2 (4:1)
Spread of 3 (2:1)
Spread of 4-11 (1:1)
Pair (Push)
Consecutive Cards (Push)
Three of a Kind (11:1)

The optimal Red Dog Strategy is quite simple. The player should only raise the bet if the spread is of 7 or higher. This will result in more wins than lost hand when you raise the bet. If you raise on spreads of 6 or less, the house holds a higher edge and these bets will result mostly in lost hands.

Superior Casino has best online casino games strategies for you. Try your luck with this easy Red Dog Poker strategy!

The ultimate Caribbean Stud Poker Strategy
by Jean Real

You’ve probably seen those big poker tournaments on TV, such as the World Series of Poker, and you’re really wondering how hard it can be to compete at poker with other players. We have to tell you, Poker is an art to be learned and before you head out to a big poker tournament you should have a good strategy base. The best way to get acquainted with the game is by playing Video Poker which is similar to poker but you don’t have to “compete” with other players. Another game which can help you practice is Caribbean Stud Poker. This is the game we want to focus on today.

Caribbean Stud Poker is an incredibly easy game to play and win at. As you may know, for any Stud Poker game you do not need to draw for new cards. You play according to the initial deal of cards. This is similar to Texas Hold’em in which you simply play and bet according to the cards dealt without being able to exchange or discard any card. The game begins by placing an Ante bet before any cards are dealt. The dealer deals 5 cards for himself and 5 cards for the player. The dealer’s cards are all face-down except one.

Here’s where you practice you poker skills. Your 5 cards need to be better than the dealer’s in order to win the game. For the game to continue you must place a second bet twice the amount of the ANTE Bet. If you feel your cards are not good enough, then fold you hand and play a new one. The Ante Bet is lost in this case.

Now if you have a good hand then place the second bet and you’ll go against the dealer’s hand. If you have a better hand than the dealer’s the Ante Bet pays 1:1 and the second Bet according to the Caribbean Stud Poker Pay Table if the dealer has at least an Ace and King:

Poker hand/Payout
Royal Flush/ 800:1
Straight Flush/ 200:1
Four of a Kind/ 25:1
Full House/10:1
Flush/7:1
Straight/5:1
Three of a Kind/3:1
Two Pair/2:1
Pair/1:1
High Card	/1:1

When should you raise the bet? Very simple, we have a solid Caribbean Stud Poker strategy for you:

If you have at least a Pair in your hand, raise the bet.
If you have less than the dealer’s qualifying hand (Ace/King) fold the bet.
If you have Ace and King, raise the bet only if you have a Jack or Queen as your third highest card

This Caribbean Stud Strategy will make you fold many hands but that’s better than losing both the Ante and Second bet when having a bad hand. It is a proven technique to help you get the best results with the minimum risk for the player.

Three Card Poker Rules and Strategy
by Jean Real

This week Superior Casino treats its players with a guide and tips to one of the world’s favorite casino games: Three Card Poker. This game originated in the UK under the name of Brag, a three-card betting game that was played at a fast rate. The game evolved over the last three hundred years and when it was brought to the United States the British game was influenced by Poker, eventually creating a blend between both of them.

Three Card Poker is essentially two games in one, Pair-Plus and Ante. Some casinos oblige the player to make both bets but at Superior Casino it’s completely up to the player. Placing the bet only on the Pair-Plus will increase the speed of the game since you are simply betting on getting a Pair or better poker hand. If your hand does not have a pair, flush, straight, three-of-a-kind or straight flush, the bet is lost.

Pair-Plus bets will win according to this paytable:

Straight Flush
40:1
Three of a Kind
30:1
Straight
6:1
Flush
4:1
Pair
1:1

The Ante game consists of beating the dealer with a stronger three-card poker hand. The dealer is dealt three cards face-down. Players place an Ante bet to see their three cards. To play the game to its end the player must place a second Play bet for the same amount as the Ante bet. If the player feels his or her hand is not strong enough to beat the dealer’s, the player may fold and only the Ante bet is lost. Having a stronger poker hand will pay 1:1 for the Ante bet. The payout is the same for the Play bet, but applies only if the dealer has at least a Queen. If the dealer does not have a Queen kicker or a better hand, the Play bet is returned when the player wins.

Ante bets have an additional bonus payout for the following poker hands:

Straight Flush
5:1
Three of a Kind
4:1
Straight
1:1

There is no strategy for Three-Card Poker if only the Pair-Plus bet is placed. For the Ante bet, the strategy is extremely simple. Mathematical calculations have revealed that the player must only place the second Play bet if dealt at least a Queen, six and four (Q/6/4). Raising the bet on any hand over that, including a Q/7/3 (a 7 kicker is better than a 6), will increase the player’s chances of getting the best results at Three Card Poker.

Don’t waste another minute, log in now to apply your new ThreeCard Poker strategies and tips.

Letting the fun ride
by Jean Real

Have you ever heard of a casino game that lets you take back your bet in the middle of a game? Yes, its bizarre but those are actually the rules for Let It Ride, a popular casino game that has spread through the world and can now be found in more than 200 casinos worldwide. The game was invented by a gaming corporation called Shuffle Master. Let It Ride or Letem Ride is a simple variation of Poker but playing it does not involve the complexity and skill that normal Poker involves.

To play Let It Ride you must know just a few things about Poker. First of all, you need to understand the paytable. Winning hands are paid in the following order:

Royal Flush 250:1
Straight Flush 50:1
Four of a Kind 25:1
Full House 12:1
Flush 10:1
Straight 8:1
Three of a Kind 3:1
Two Pair 2:1
Tens or Better 1:1

Playing the game is very simple. You place 3 different bets on the table and are dealt 3 cards face up and 2 cards face down. The goal of the game is to complete the strongest 5-card (Poker Hand). After getting your three cards face up you can decide to leave or remove the second bet before seeing the fourth card. Same happens when you want to see the fifth card, you may leave your third bet on the table or take it back. Leaving the bets on the table is what they call letting it ride but you should only do this if you have good chances of completing a paying hand.

Here are a few tips to help you get the best results when you play Let It Ride at Superior Casino.

You should leave the second bet if you have on the first 3 cards the following hands:

         Pair of 10s or better
Any 3 suited cards in a row
3 cards to a straight flush with one 10 or better card
3 to a Royal Flush

Let the third bet ride if you have with four cards any of the following hands:

         Pair of 10s or better
4 to complete a Royal Flush
4 to a regular flush
4 cards to an open-ended straight (i.e. 4,5,6,7 you can either get a 3 or an 8 to complete the straight)
Any four cards over 10

More tips and strategies to come in the future, only at Superior Casino.

By Jean Real

Paigow poker has been one of the most recent games to enter mainstream casinos and since its recent appearance it has become one of the most popular casino games. The game originated in China and was originally played with tiles or dominoes. As the game was introduced in the West, variations started appearing until the Paigow was paired with Poker. Since 1987, when the game was introduced in Las Vegas and subsequently in Atlantic City, Paigow poker has become a standard casino game. Lets look into what it takes to win at Paigow Poker.

For best results you must apply the House Way strategy but there are different interpretations of what this is. Superior Casino offers an efficient House Way option that you may click on when you play Paigow Poker, helping you decide what the best split for your hand is. Here are some additional tips that can help you win.

How to make a good split? If you get the following cards, heres a safe way to get the best results:

No pair: Place the highest card on the bottom hand and the next highest two on the top hand.

One pair: Place the pair on the bottom hand and the next highest two on the top hand.

Two pair:

Low pairs should be split, unless you have a king or better card to put on the top hand.
A low and medium pair should split, unless you have a king or better card to put on the top hand.
Low and high pair should split, unless you have an ace to put on the top hand.
Two medium pair should split, unless you have an ace for the top hand.
Medium and high pair should always be split
High and high pair should be split

Three pair: Place the two highest pairs on the bottom hand.

Three of a kind: Always place the three-of-a-kind on bottom hand unless they are aces. Then split and put an ace on the top hand.

Straights, Flushes and Royal Flush: Keep these on the bottom hand unless you also have two pair, three pair or three of a kind. Then use the two pair, three pair or three of a kind rule.

Full House: Always split, leaving three-of-a-kind at the bottom and pair on top. Exception: having 2s for pair with Ace and King. Keep the Full House and put Ace/King on top hand.

Four of a kind: Keep if 6s or below. 10s through Kings split always unless you have an Ace to put on the top hand. If four Aces, always split.

Gambling always involves an element of chance but there are games in which your skill and decision play a role in the outcome of the game. In games like Blackjack, Let It Ride, Roulette and Three Card Poker you can reduce the risk of losing by applying optimal strategies that lower the house edge of the casino. Card-counting, betting structures and the like are some of the strategies you can use to play the skill games that casinos offer. However, there are days in which we want to gamble without having to concentrate ourselves too much. If youve had enough of slot machines you can try two table games that require NO SKILL whatsoever to play.

War:

This is perhaps the easiest casino game in the world. All you must do is place a bet and wait for a result that is as random as the flip of a coin. The objective of the game is simple enough, to the get the highest card; Ace being the highest and 2 the lowest. If the same value cards are dealt for both the player and the dealer, then the player has the option of doubling the bet to have another go at the duel. Superior Casinos War table also has the option of betting for a tie, if there is a tie on the initial draw the tie bet pays 10 to 1.

Baccarat:

No matter what youve heard or read, there is no strategy that can help you win at Baccarat. The game is similar to War in the sense that you are betting on who will get the highest ranking cards. The difference however is that Baccarat allows you to bet on the Banker (or dealer) side while on War you always bet for your hand. In Baccarat each card has its face value except Jacks, Queens, Kings and Tens that have a value of zero. The goal of the game is to come closest to the sum of nine with two or three cards. If the sum of two cards goes over 10, then simply deduct ten to arrive at the hands value. For example: 8 + 7 = 15, in Baccarat that would be a 5 point value. Two 5s will have a zero point value. Bets placed on the players hand will pay 2:1, while bets on the bankers hand pay 2:1 minus a 5% commission. Here again you may bet on the tie which will pay you 9:1. Its completely a matter of chance who will win so your guess is as good as anybody elses.

BLACKJACK SCHOOL

WHAT DO YOU DO?
10,10 vs. 5

THE SETUP: You’ve sat down and get yourself involved in a multiple deck game where Doubling-down after split (also known as DDAS) is one of the available options. You’re dealt a pair of cards with ten value (either 10, J, Q or K), and the dealer flips over a five, which is commonly known as a “stiff” card. Your eyes pop out of your head. “Wow,” you say to yourself, “Here’s an opportunity to get a lot of money on the table against this horrible card. How could I possibly pass up on that?” You have a real temptation to put the maximum amount of chips on the table, in an effort to capitalize on the situation. Should you?

So…..

What do you do?

CJ’S WAY: Put your eyes back into your head. This is a scenario where you could very easily shoot yourself in the foot by doing the wrong thing. Do not flip the switch. Do not take more chips out. Do not pass “Go.” Do not try to collect $200. Wait a minute, I’m getting carried away with myself……You get the idea. Stay right where you are.

WHY WE DO IT: If you do what I suggest, and hold back from splitting this hand up, you are going to win about 78% of the time, compared to losing 11% of the time. Your positive expectations go way, way down when you vary from that. Even when the DDAS option is open to you, you will suffer 34% losses when you split these cards up. When you stand with 20 you are going to gain approximately 13%. As you should know by now, we are looking for the highest percentage play for each situation. Therefore, there is no plausible reason to do anything else than that which yields the best value.

Splitting tens against a five can be advantageous if you are counting cards and are in a situation where you can implement that practice. However, if you are a Basic Strategy player, you must operate on the principle that breaking up winning hands is not a winning policy. It will not be often that you find relatively opportunities to win hands. When they are laid out before you, you can’t blow the chance!

BLACKJACK SCHOOL
Designed to help you play a better game

WHAT DO YOU DO?
A,5 vs. 2

THE SETUP: You’re playing in a game where soft doubling is allowed. The dealer gives you an Ace and a five and then flips up a two. The hand of Ace-Five gives you a total of either 6 or 16 – it’s your choice as to which way it will work better for you. Your options are to stand, hit, or double down.

So……

What do you do?

CJ’S WAY: When you think about it, standing on this hand doesn’t make a lot of sense. What you need to resist is the temptation with the idea of doubling, just because the dealer isn’t showing an upcard that is classified as “pat.” What you need to do here is HIT this soft hand.

WHY WE DO IT: Essentially, there are two questions we’re asking ourselves – (A) Is the Ace-five (remember to call it that, not 6 or 16) strong enough to double with?; and (B) Is the upcard the dealer is showing (the two) vulnerable enough to double against? The answer to the first question is, generally, yes. The Ace-Five gives you that total of 6 or 16, and you could wind up in a lot worse condition. In point of fact, you WILL double this hand against the dealer’s upcard of 4,5, or 6. However, the answer to the second question is, NO, the two does not provide enough of an opportunity to double on this hand. It allows the dealer too much of a chance to attain a solid or standing hand. The bottom line, mathematically, is that with this hand you have an overall negative expectation; you will win 1% MORE and lose 1% LESS if you hit the hand as opposed to doubling it.

————————————

WHAT DO YOU DO?
A,5 vs. 7

THE SETUP: You are playing in a game which features soft doubling. You are dealt an Ace and a five, while the dealer shows a seven. You can’t bust out with one hit in this situation. Obviously, when soft doubling is available to you, you’re always looking for a chance to exercise it. Here we may have one of those chances.

So……

What do you do?

CJ’S WAY: No, it doesn’t. No doubling here. You must HIT this hand.

WHY WE DO IT: Remember that the Ace-five gives you a total of either 6 or 16. Certainly this doesn’t constitute a hand that’s good enough to double with against a dealer’s seven. Examining the math, doubling on the hand produces a negative expectation. You will, in fact, lose over NINE more hands per hundred than you will win. That represents about a 20% deficit, which is what you ant to avoid. However, considering the alternative, when you simply hit the Ace-five against the seven, you’re actually looking good. Leaving all pushes between the player and dealer aside, when you hit this hand you will win and lose almost exactly the same amount of times. That becomes essentially a break-even, which represents a better way to go than doubling in this scenario, where you are putting more money into play and at risk.

Understanding the Games.
By Charles Jay

Part two: PAY TABLE

The pay table applies to video-based games such as slot machines and video poker games. It is, in effect, a “schedule” of payouts and describes the relationship between the amount of coins or units the bettor puts into a wager and the amount of units he or she will get back with a win. When you are playing at Superior Casino, for example, you are going to be able to access the pay table for any video slot or video poker game easily, simply by clicking a button.

The pay table also serves an important function, particularly in the area of slot machines, in that, ideally, it clears up things quite a bit, as it gives the player all the payout possibilities. Remember, there are a lot of pay lines on a video slot machine, and a wide number of possible ways to win. Imagine 40 pay lines, going in every direction, with dozens of symbols to account for, which pay off to different degrees, not to mention the various ways the player can score jackpots, supplemental payouts and qualify for bonus rounds. The pay table outs all of that information at the player’s fingertips.

Although we are most concerned about the pay tables as they appear in the interface of Superior Casino, you will find it as well on a physical slot machine or video poker game in the casino, where it appears in front of you. Find it, read it, and pay attention to it, so that there is no misunderstanding as to your payouts, and use it as a guide for betting, so that you can achieve your desired payouts.

Part three: PERCENTAGE PAYBACK

You often hear about video poker games or machines with a 99.5% payback – this would be, for example, a 9/6 Jacks or Better game (that which pays 9-1 on the Full House and 6-1 on the Flush). These are supposed to pay put $99.50 for every $100 played on them. The house would be operating on a .5% advantage in these cases. That would be not too much different as the house advantage when you play Basic Strategy in blackjack. Here’s the “rub,” as they say – of course, that payback and those percentages only hold up if you are able to learn a strategy for video poker and implement it perfectly. If you play foolishly, or say, as an experiment, deliberately go out of your way to discard potentially winning cards, your disadvantage will go up considerably and the payback on the game will go DOWN considerably.

Percentage payback is going to be different according to what kind of game you play. An 8/5 Jacks or Better game (that which the player gets paid 8-1 on the Full House and 5-1 on the Flush) has a payback of 97.3%, giving the player a 2.7% disadvantage, even with perfect strategy play. A 6/5 Jacks or Better game, which pays just 6-1 on a Full House and 5-1 on a Flush, has a payback of 95%. Obviously, no one would be advised to compete at a game with a 5% built-in house advantage, when there are better games available. But check out ALL the games over at Superior Casino!

BLACKJACK: HOW TO DEAL WITH A MULTI-CARD HAND
By Charles Jay

Let’s say you’re sitting at a blackjack table, whether it’s in a brick and mortar situation but preferably online here at Superior Casino, and you’re playing the Basic Strategy you’ve probably read about somewhere, practiced at home and by now have memorized by heart. You’ve been dealt a 10 and a 2 for a hard total of 12. The dealer has a ten showing. Of course, since it is dictated by Basic Strategy, your move in this situation is to hit.

Okay, so you call for the hit and now you wind up with another two. That gives you a three-card total of 14 on your hand.

So what now?

Sure, you know the Basic Strategy which applies for two-card combinations, but what about three cards, or four, or even five?

This is often the first point of confusion for people who are relatively new to the game; in many cases, it’s something they may not have thought of before.

But there is no reason to become despondent. The answer to this problem, in fact, is very simple: when you encounter a multi-card hand, all you have to do is plug the total right back into the Basic Strategy and go from there. This means that if you’re dealt three or more cards which total 11 or less, you will hit that hand. When your cards total 12 or more, your response would be exactly the same as if it were a two-card hand. For example, a 5-7-3 combo would total 15 and you would hit when the dealer shows an upcard of 7 through Ace and stand when the dealer shows 2 through 6.

Alright, that covers the HARD hands (not the difficult ones but those without an Ace). Now what about multi-card SOFT hands (those with an Ace)? The critical thing, as always, is to refer to the hand as an ace and the sum of the other cards. For example, the hand of A,7 is referred to as “Ace-Seven” rather than “Soft 18″ or “8 or 18″, as the dealer might refer to it.

The hand A,3,3 is also “Ace-Six”, because you’ve added the sum of the other cards. Just add those other cards up and plug the hand into your Basic Strategy for the correct play. To exemplify how the rule works, the hands which total Ace-Three through Ace-Six are always hit; Ace-Eight through Ace-Ten (21) always call for you to stand. Naturally (if you pardon the pun), there should never be a three-card hand of Ace-Two, because hopefully, the aces will have been split the first time (another critical part of Basic Strategy you shouldn’t screw up on).

Now let’s go over what may be the only possible exception to these basic rules. That’s the case of the multi-card hand that adds up to Ace-Seven. Basic Strategy mandates that you stand against a dealer’s upcard of 2,7, or 8 in this situation. Otherwise, you will hit. Of course, always remember that with multi-card hands, any two-card Basic Strategy rule which dictates that you double down means that you’ll HIT, since obviously you can’t double a three-card hand (well, there are exceptions to that, but not enough to cover here).

How about when you hit your multi-card SOFT hand and it becomes a HARD hand? In other words, you have an Ace-Seven then get a six which leaves you with 14 and without the flexibility you might have if it was still 11 or under as a total? This, for some reason, becomes a very uncomfortable situation for some people. But it’s actually quite easy to proceed. Simply plug it in once again to your Basic Strategy for hard hands, and you’ve solved your problem.

If you are so motivated, it’s worth it to practice this technique at home in Superior Casino. Configure your own drills where there is a constant dealer upcard and then take out most of the ten-value cards (10,J,Q,K), leaving mostly aces and low cards (2,3,4,5,6) in the deck, so that it will demand quick decisions on multi-card hands. This is a great way to avoid this kind of confusion in the future.
